Oakley Prizm Trail Lens Review
Strong saturated orange through the lens. Best in mixed, deep woods, made for MTB, trail running.
Discontinued by Oakley
The verdict
Avoid
When it came out this was the lens to beat, and it is still the most saturated orange in the set. Today it reads like the orange of those bad weather snowboard goggles everyone had as a kid: strong, nostalgic, and outdated. A lens with better, newer alternatives.
Take instead
- Prizm Trail Torch for most riders, the same job with a calmer tint
- Prizm Low Light when Trail would already feel too dark
- Prizm Road whenever there is enough light

The specimen

Lens comparison
The same seven scenes, one locked exposure. This one is loaded against Prizm Trail Torch.
How brightness is shown. Every lens was shot at one locked exposure set on the bare sensor, so True exposure is the real light transmission. Your eye adapts, so a dark lens never looks that dark in life: Eye adapted raises each image by its measured transmission (perceived = transmission^0.5). Colour only normalises every lens to the same brightness to isolate the tint.

What it is
Discontinued by Oakley, still widely owned, and still the most frequently asked comparison against Trail Torch. It is the most saturated specimen in the set, a strong orange where Trail Torch is a muted coral.
