Will it fit my goggle?

Very likely. It has seated in every goggle I have tried, across Smith, Oakley, Anon and 100%. Larger sizes of a tested frame fit as well. Smaller sizes I check in hand first. Send me your model and I will confirm before you order.

The goggle does not fog any more than it did before. The insert sits behind the goggle lens, so the goggle keeps its own anti-fog treatment, its venting and its seal on your face. That seal is what glasses under a goggle break, which is why they fog so badly. The prescription lens itself sits in the air next to your face and can mist when you stop after a hard run or walk into a warm hut. It clears once you move and air flows again. An anti-fog coating for the prescription lens is available as a lens option. Mine is a premium hydrophobic coating, expensive and skipped by many competitors, and it gives the best anti-fog performance possible on a prescription lens. A wipe with a microfibre cloth, never a glove, does the rest.

Does it work with progressive lenses?

Yes. Progressives are the reason the V3 adjusts in height and depth: the reading zone has to sit where your eye expects it.

Does it touch the goggle lens?

Sometimes, by design. Four arms rest against the inside of the goggle and that is what holds the insert in place. On many models they sit on the rubber around the lens rather than on the lens itself. The prescription lenses sit behind the arms, clear of the goggle lens. In two years, one customer with very frequent use has reported faint marks on the inside of the lens where the arms rest. That is nowhere near damage, but I would rather you know.

Can I still change the goggle lens?

Yes on the magnetic systems I have tested, Smith MAG and Anon MFI. The lens lifts off with the insert in place.

What is the difference between V2 and V3?

V3 adjusts for pupil height and for the distance to your eye. V2 is fixed and looks cleaner. Every order is built on V3 unless a very low prescription makes V2 the better fit, and I tell you which before shipping.

How long does it take?

About two weeks from order to delivery, made to your prescription.

How high can the prescription go?

Sphere from +5 to -7.5 is standard. Beyond that a specialist lab makes the lenses for me, including cylinders to -8 and prism. Those lenses take longer, are made to order, and are excluded from returns, so send me your values first and I confirm everything before you order.

It sits where your glasses sit

Most goggle inserts park the lens wherever the goggle happens to hold it, which is further from the eye than your everyday glasses. That is why an insert can feel wrong even when the prescription is right. The V3 insert adjusts in two directions to fix that.

Height. The lens holders clip into a ladder of holes in the bridge, 3 mm apart. I choose the hole from your pupil height, so the centre of each lens sits in front of your pupil and not at an average.

Depth. The insert holds itself in place with four arms that rest against the inside of the goggle, on the lens or on the rubber around it depending on the model. Without an adapter the prescription lens sits at its outermost position, furthest from your eye. Three push-on adapters, 5, 10 and 15 mm, ship with every insert. Pushed onto the bridge, each one moves the lens that much closer to your eye, back to the distance your own glasses sit at. For stronger prescriptions and progressives this is not a comfort detail: lens distance changes the effective power, and the further out a lens sits, the more the correction drifts. Setting it right is what makes a strong prescription work in a goggle at all.

Very high prescriptions are what I specialise in

Most suppliers stop at moderate values. I do not. Sphere from +5 to -7.5 is standard. Beyond that I work with a specialist lens lab: cylinders to -8, prism, and combinations other suppliers turn away. Two things make a high power work in a goggle where it fails elsewhere. The lens has to sit at the distance your prescription was measured at, which is what the depth spacers are for. And each lens has to be centred on your own pupil, which is why I ask for monocular measurements. Send me your values and I tell you honestly what is possible before you pay anything. Which insert you get

Every order is built on the adjustable V3. For a very low single vision prescription I may fit the fixed V2 instead: it is optically simpler and looks cleaner in the goggle, and at low power the adjustments make no difference you would notice. I decide from your prescription and tell you which one is coming before it ships.
